How Veylan Began — A Story of Love, Loss, and the Home Our Pets Give Us
Share
I never planned to start a brand.
Veylan didn’t begin with business ideas or strategies.
It began with loneliness…
two small lives…
and the moment I finally understood what “family” really means.
Lettuce — My First Light
In 2019, I moved to the United States alone.
No family.
No friends.
A new language.
A global lockdown.
A home I couldn’t return to for years.
It was one of the quietest, hardest times of my life.
Until one day, at an animal shelter,
I saw a tiny, terrified kitten curled in the corner.
She flinched from everyone—
but when I crouched down,
she slowly walked over
and gently pressed her forehead against my hand.
In that small gesture,
something inside me softened in a way I can’t describe.
I took her home.
I named her Lettuce.
And from that moment on, she stayed with me—
through every long night,
every move,
every tear,
every new beginning.
Wherever I went,
she was there.
She wasn’t just a pet.
She was my home.
2023 — The Day I Almost Lost Her
There is one day I can never forget.
We had just moved to a new house.
Lettuce was nervous, unsettled, scared of every sound.
While I was unpacking, she panicked—
and jumped from the second floor.
In that instant,
my entire world dropped.
I searched everywhere for her—
calling her name again and again,
my footsteps echoing across the empty yard,
each minute stretching like hours.
Half an hour later,
I found her curled in a corner of the backyard,
shaking,
with a small wound on her face,
her eyes full of fear… and apology.
When I picked her up,
my hands wouldn’t stop trembling.
I held her so tight I could barely breathe,
and tears just wouldn’t stop.
That was the first—
and only—
time I almost lost her.
And it changed me.
Forever.
It taught me how fragile life is,
and how deep love can go.
It taught me that pets are not pets.
They are family.
They are our children.
They are living pieces of our heart.
Lychee — My Second Light
In 2024, life brought me another daughter.
My friend’s cat had a litter.
All the kittens were adopted—
except one.
The moment I reached toward her,
she ran straight into my arms,
grabbed my shirt with her tiny paws,
as if saying:
“I choose you.”
I named her Lychee.
Lettuce was moonlight—
soft, steady, gentle.
Lychee was sunlight—
bright, silly, chaotic, full of joy.
And together,
they made my home whole.
2025 — Moving to Miami With Two Daughters
I grew up alone.
But somewhere along the way,
I became a father of two little souls.
I took them with me through every chapter—
New York, Chicago, and finally Miami.
And slowly, I realized:
Home is not a place.
It’s the feeling of being loved by someone who depends on you.
Why I Created Veylan
Because I learned something I wish I never had to learn:
Our pets’ lives are shorter than ours.
But in their short lives,
we are their entire world.
One day, we have to say goodbye—
a goodbye we are never ready for.
And when that day comes,
I want every pet,
and every loving family,
to have:
a gentle, dignified farewell
a beautiful resting place
a way for them to stay close—
not in life,
but in memory,
in love,
in presence.
Veylan does not make cold containers.
We create:
✨ A place for stories
✨ A place for names, love, and light
✨ A place where you can softly whisper,
“Welcome home.”
Because they were never just pets.
They were family.
And love like that deserves to remain.
Letting Love Reach More Lives
I will always remember the day I met that scared little kitten in the corner of a shelter.
If she hadn’t found me,
I would not be who I am today.
That is why Veylan gives back.
A portion of every purchase supports:
🏠 animal shelters
🐾 rescue and foster programs
🩺 medical care for strays
✨ spay/neuter and adoption efforts
So that more lives can be touched by warmth, safety, and love.
**Because remembrance is not the end.
It is simply a different way of staying together.**
This is my story-
and the story of my two daughters,
Lettuce and Lychee.
And this is how
Veylan began.
Veylan is where love remains—
and where every story finds a home.
